Fiona Whitehouse

Fiona Whitehouse is a multi-disciplinary artist who takes inspiration from the landscapes of the British Isles, as well as other eclectic environments, most recently from her travels to Martinique.

Her work marks extended dialogues withing these spaces which she transforms into deeply personal paintings. Fiona explores the landscapes rather than describing them, creating works which make use of light and colour in their most expressive forms.

Fiona’s most recent mixed media works on canvas and paper,  are the culmination of her recent experiences from her travels to Martinique. This body of work is fittingly called ‘Insurrection”, a testament to the multifaceted and often revolutionary nature of the dialogues and observations of the people she chatted to there and who are portrayed within her work.

Fiona studied Fine Art and Italian at the University of Exeter and painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence. She went on to study a masters at the University of Oxford and attained a PhD from Birbeck College, London where she focused on 15th Century colour and painting techniques.

From her Oxford studio the artist paints in acrylic and mixed media.
