Alexandra Buckle’s hand printed ‘reduction’ linocuts are inspired by her reaction to light, weather and season. She reacts to the ever changing light and shadow and the different colour palettes created as a result, and takes pleasure in translating these into her unique linocuts.

This relief printing technique involves cutting and printing every layer of colour from the same block of lino in order to build up an image.   Mistakes cannot be rectified and the block is destroyed in the process. All prints in the edition must be created at once because there is no going back to an earlier cut of the block.

Alexandra lives in Oxfordshire, and is a member of Beds, Bucks and Herts Print Society and BAFA printmakers. Her prints have been selected twice for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and exhibited in the Society of Women Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London.
